Monthly Clubs for Adults

The Library offers several monthly programs for both adult and teen patrons. You can view information about these clubs below, and many other library programs can be found on our Events Calendar.

Adult Writing Group

📅 Meets: First Monday of each month at 6:30 pm. For patrons age 19 and older.

Beginning and experienced writers are welcome to explore the craft of creative writing and discover their own voice as they respond to stimulating and challenging writing prompts under the direction of a writing facilitator. Bring whatever writing materials you want, or just bring yourself and we’ll supply paper. Anyone who wants to read their writings out loud is welcome to do so and will receive feedback and support. For more information, call the Library or contact Cassandra, coconnell@cretelibrary.org.

Book Appétit Cookbook Book Club

📅 Meets: Last Monday of each month at 6 pm.
View/download flyer
Join us for Book Appétit as we enjoy a potluck array of food from one cookbook per month. Each member picks a recipe from the current months cookbook and brings their dish to share with other members. Copies of the book will be available in advance at the Patron Services Desk. Registration preferred.

Knot Just For Knitters

📅 Meets: First Thursday from 1-4 pm with Cassandra and third Thursday from 6-7:30 pm with Sandy.

All are welcome to attend. Bring whatever project you are working on: knitting, crocheting, needlework, sewing, whatever! Come for assistance or advice from your fellow needleworkers, or just for the companionship while you work on a project. All levels welcome! No registration necessary.

No current project? Use yarn to help others! Yarn and needles will be supplied to work on collaborative projects such as:
Warm Up America — knit or crochet blankets, newborn caps, and friendship shawls for local organizations.
Project Linus — knit or crochet security blankets for children in need.
Mother Bear Project — knit or crochet bears for children affected by HIV/AIDS.
Scarves from the Heart — provide cancer survivors with a scarf.
Snuggles Project — blankets for shelter animals.

If you are unable to attend a meeting you may stop by the Library and pick up a pre-packaged project kit to make at home. When completed, return it to the Library, and a group member will see that your item is distributed to the appropriate organization. For more information, call the Library at 708-672-8017.
